BR 2-18: The Frog Prince (2005)


"There was a loud crash of thunder, followed by a shower of sparks. The frog had vanished. In his place stood a handsome young prince." (P. 42)

I know this story. When I was a child, I read this story in Japanese. This is very famous story in the world. This is romantic story, because the frog changed a handsome young prince. In fact, the frog was a prince. He was changed to frog by magic. 

One day, Princess Poppy played her beautiful golden ball. However, she slipped and fell into the pond. Her beautiful golden ball flew out of her hands. She was very shocked, because it was her birthday present from her daddy. A talking frog appeared her front. The frog rose out of the pond. Above his head, he held the golden ball. She was very glad.

When I was reading this book, I think that I don't like the frog, and I don't want to pick up my important thing. Poppy is don't like frog too. She was very hard on the talking frog. But, the talking frog was a handsome prince. He became his former figure, thanks for Poppy's kiss. It is very romantic! I like romantic princess story very much. I want to read more romantic story. There is disney movie based on this story. I want to this movie.

BR 2-17: Chicken Licken (2007)


"The others had seen the acorn fall on Foxy Loxy. Everyone looked at Chicken Licken." (p. 46)

The Chicken Licken lived farm. Many animal lived on this farm. Most of the animals on the farm were happy. But, Chicken Licken wasn't happy. Chicken Licken was scared of everything. For example, he scared mouse, his shadow, the earthworm. I am scared them too. I can understand the Chicken Licken's emotion very much. But, he is too easily frightened. 

One day, estopped by an oak tree. Suddenly, a tiny acorn dropped from the tree, and hit Chicken Licken's head. He was so surprised. he didn't see the acorn, and he thought the sky must be falling. I was surprised his thinking! I never had thought such thing. His imagination is very wonderful. And then he rushed back farm, and he told it many animals. Animals were surprised, and they all went down the hole. 

Finally, an animal had seen the acorn fall on fox. They understood that why the Chicken Licken said such thing. They chased him all the way home. I think the Chicken Licken was poor. He not told lie. I want animals to kind to the Chicken Licken. It is very funny story. I want to read it again.

BR 2-16: The Dragon Painter (2006)


"So Chang turned and dotted in the eyes of the jade dragon, the gold dragon, and the red dragon. Chang finished and, a bolt if lighting split open the templed roof." (p. 39)

Chang was a great Chinese painter. His pictures was loved by many Chinese people. His animal pictures were best of all. His butterflies and birds really seemed alive. I am not good at painting pictures. I can't to paint real. If I can paint pictures like Chang, I like to paint pictures. 

One day, he painted the dragons pictures on wall. It looked like real dragons. He painted their eyes, the dragon was moved. I can't believe it. I don't think the painted dragons became real dragon. It is funny story for me, but I want to change real things from pictures. If I have such facility, I everyday paint  delicious foods! I want to have such facility. When I get this facility, I will paint very cute dog. I want to have a dog.

BR 2-15: The Little Red Hen (2006)



""Oh no you won't!" said the little red hen. I'll eat it all by myself. And she did." (p. 45)

The little red hen had best friends. A black cat, a big noisy duck, and a fat brown rat. One day, the little red hen found some grains of wheat. She want to make flour. She talked to them, "Who will help me?". However, they don't help the little red hen. She did to make the wheat by herself of all. Her best friends were not help for her all. The wheat was ready. She cut down the wheat without any help at all. And, She grind it into flour. She made bread without any help at all. Finally, she ate the bread by herself all. 

I think that an act of kindness is very important for life. If I meet people who be in trouble, I want to help them. I think if you do good action, you will be good person! I believe it! I want to do kind action.

BR 2-14: The Town Mouse and The Country Mouse (2007)


"He sniffed the sweet, cold air and smiled. Then he snuggled down in his warm hay bed. "This is the life for me," he said." (p. 47)

There was once a little brown country mouse. His name was Pipin. His cousin Toby lives town. One day, Toby came to country. They live in very different environment. The country mouse Pipin love his country, but he was interested in the town. He went to the town with Toby. Pipin was overwhelmed by the town. He wanted to back his country. Toby likes town life. 

I think that it is same thing of people. The person who lives country. He longs to visit town. However, the fact that he lives in town, he can't come to like the town. He missed his country. I think Kumamoto is country city, but it is good town to live. I understood Pipin's emotion.

BR 2-13: The Fox and The Stork (2007)


"But Stork said, you tricked me first. Always be kind to your friends, said Stork, and they will be kind to you." (p. 23)

Fox and Stork were friends, but Fox loved playing tricks. Fox tricked Stork. Stork has long bill, so he can't to eat eat poured soup into wide bowls. But, Fox poured soup which he made into wide bowls. Stork couldn't eat it, and he was angry to Fox. And, he retaliated for the Fox. 

I think it is retribution. If you do bad or mean things to other people, it return to you. It is the thing that this story author wanted to say. It is very important to live the society. I should always be kind to my friends. I want to be a kind person. This is a lesson of the life.

BR 2-12: The Wish Fish (2007)


"One day, he catches a magic fish. The fish gives Bob and Bet three wishes. " (p. 15)

Bob caught a magic fish. The fish can grant three wishes. I think it is very fantastic. Bob and Bet wish they want to be rich. That wish was granted. They were very grad to it. But, Bet wish to fish, "I want to be richer still." The magic fish was angry. They were too greedy! So, they were become themselves   again. They were too greedy and were not able to become rich. I think that people should to live simple. I want to be a richer, but I don't wish too rich. I want to a little richer than Now! I want to the magic fish.

BR 2-11: The Ugly Duckling (Davidson, 2006)



"He bent his head to the water and saw that he was no longer an ugly duckling. He was a swan!" (p. 44)

This story is based on the story by Hans Christian Andersen. It is very famous story. When I was a child, I read this story in Japanese. Japanese title is "Minikui Ahirunoko". The mother duck had six eggs. Five eggs ware smooth and small and white. But, the sixth egg was huge. The huge egg was ugly duck's egg. The duck was very large and very ugly. However, this ugly duck was a swan! The ugly duck grew up, and it was not duck. In fact, it was a swan. 

I think the ugly duck didn't like itself. However, he became very beautiful swan, better than ducks. I was glad that ugly duck became beautiful. The swan is the most beautiful one of all. I want to be beautiful woman. I want to transform myself more beautiful!

BR 2-10: The Three Little Pigs (Davidson, 2007)

 


"He jumped onto the roof. He slid down the chimney and landed splosh in Poppy's cooking pot." (p.46)

When I was a child, I read this story in Japanese. This story is very interesting. Three little pigs are family. They build own house. Older brother made house from straw. Another older brother made house from wood. The youngest pig made house from brick.  The youngest pig's house is the best house in the three. it was very strong. His brother's house was broke by wolf.
Finally, the two brothers run into the youngest pig's house. The three little pigs were extermination wolf.

I think it is very great. However, I think pig can't win the wolf. It is impossible. But it is very good story. I want to read it again.

BR 2-09: Christmas around the world (Sims, 2005)


"Some say that Santa Claus lives at the North Pole, or in Lapland, which is nearby. Every year, millions of children send him letters, saying what they'd like in their stocking for Christmas."

This story tells about christmas in the world. For example, Sweden, Syria, Germany, Scandinavia, Britain, and Australia. When I was a children, I believed Santa Claus. I wrote letter for him every year. I received many presents every year. I was glad. Nowadays, I cannot receive present from Santa. My father and my mother give me present to make up. Last year, I also gave presents for my parents. They were pleased. I was happy. 

I think Christmas is a day makes people happy. I like christmas very much. I can't wait this year christmas. I want to make christmas cake for my family. I want read Many people this book, because it makes me happy.

BR 2-08: The Elves and the Shoemaker (Daynes, 2004)


"Two little elves rushed in, wearing nothing but rags. They sat down at the table and quickly began to sew. "

This is a story about shoemaker and elves. An old shoemaker lived with his wife in a room above their work shop. He was a good shoemaker. However, once, a crafty shoe seller had set up a table at the end of their street. His shoes were badly sewn, with poor leather, but he sold them at a bargain price. They were cheap shoes, but local people bought them. Old shoemaker was in trouble.

However, his shoes shop became popular again, because elves made good shoes. This story is famous   in the world. I think this is like a lesson for life. I want to live obediently. It is important thing.

BR 2-07: The Dinosaurs Next Door (Castor, 2002)




"As they watched, the other eggs began to jiggle and jump and bump in the basket. Their shells shattered. The eggs had hatched." (p.13)

This story is about new dinosaurs which made by Mr.Puff. He is an inventor. He lived in a blue tall house. It looked odd and strange. He made special eggs. It was dinosaurs eggs! I want to this eggs, because I like dinosaurs. Some dinosaurs was born from eggs. They were very cute and naughty. They eat much, and play. They grew up soon, and they became too big.

I think dinosaurs are too big to have. I want to miniature dinosaurs as a pet. But I think it is too difficult to success. Someday, If an inventor invent miniature dinosaurs, I will have it for pet, and fondle it.

BR 2-06: Goldilocks and the Three Bears (Davidson, 2007)


"She had lovely golden hair and looked as good as gold. But Goldilocks wasn't good. She liked to do something naughty every day." (Davidson, 2007, p. 4)

Goldilocks was a bad girl. She always think bad things. She always angry by her mother. But, she often talk back. She is a cute girl, but bad girl.

One day, she went to the forest that her mother said don't go there. She went there, and found a house. This house was the three bear's house. She ate bear's food, broke their bed, broke their chair, and slept   on small bed. When the three bears came home, they were surprised! And, Goldilocks was more surprised!! She runaway, and went to the home.

I think Goldilocks is a curious girl! She is very interesting.

BR2-05: Stories of Mermaids (Punter, 2005)


"Coral had missed her ocean home more than she had enjoyed dancing. But she had fallen in love with Dan."
A mermaid Coral loved living under the sea. She lived with sea animals, and it was fun. But, Coral had a secret wish. She wanted to dance. She went to Neptune's place. Neptune is the king. Thanks for Neptune, she got legs! She can dancing. 

She went to dance party, and met with handsome young fisherman Dan. She fallen love with him. But, she missed in the sea. Therefore, Coral and Dan decided to live in the sea. Dan became mermaid! They were living together happily. 

I was happy to red this story ending. It is very good story. I like it!

BR2-04: The Runaway Pancake (Mackinnon, 2006)


"But the pancake didn't want to be eaten. It jumped right out of the pan and rolled out of the door."

There was once a family with seven children. One day, their mother made pancakes for breakfast. But, pancake didn't want to eat! The pancake was runaway. The children, the dog, the rabbit, the duck, the cat, the goat, and the fox run after it. It runaway very hard. Finally, the pancake was eaten by clever pig! The pig cheated the pancake, and ate it. 

I was surprised for this ending.

BR 2-03: The Story of Chocolate (Daynes, 2004)



"In 1883, Peter won a gold medal for his new, creamy chocolate recipe. Milk chocolate was a hit" (Daynes, 2004, p. 33).

I love chocolate very much. I eat it every day. I like milk chocolate. It is standard chocolate now. But, chocolate was a drink at first. I think it likes cocoa, but it was different from cocoa.

Mayan kings and priests began to drink chocolate every day. They liked the froth best. Also, Mayan people use cocoa beans like money. When they want to exchange something, they use some cocoa beans. It was very precious things for Mayan people.

Now, chocolate is loved by many people in the world. Chocolate is processed to many sweets. We can eat chocolate easy. I want to eat chocolate fondu now. Hot chocolate is very good.

BR2-02: The Snow Queen (Sims, 2004)

"Laughing with relief, Gerda and Kay tore outside the castle, to find Ba and a friend waiting for them. To Gerda's delight, the reindeer carried them all the way home. " (p 62)

When I was a elementary student, I watched The Snow Queen animation TV program. I was scared to the snow queen. I don't like her looks. She looks very ill-tempted. 
This is love and friendship story. Gerda and Kay was a very good friend. But, one day Kay began to change and grow cruel. He was very changed. And, he vanished.  Gerda was very shocked. 

Gerda wanted to see him, and she was looking for him. She find him, and go back together. I was moved her effort. I think that she is bravery girl!

BR2-01: The Story of Cars (Daynes, 2005)

This book is about car history. I am interested in car. I like American and German design car. It is very stylish. I think car is one of the fashions. 
In this book, many designs of cars are introduced. I like old design car. It is very cute. In the 1960s, a British design stole the limelight. It was a small box-shaped car with tiny wheels, named the Morris Mini Minor, or Mini for short. Europeans loved Topolinos, Beetles, and Mini. I love it.

BR1-15: Amelia Bedelia (Parish, 1963)




"All he cared about was having her there to make lemon-meringue pie." (p. 64)

Amelia Bedelia is a housekeeper, and this story is her first day of work. Mrs. Rogers who is this house orner made a list for her. Amelia tried to work following list. She tried to work by list. However, she misunderstood for the list. For example, list said "Please change towels.", but she arranged the towels to cut and decoration!

She made many mistakes at first day. But, she has a special ability. She is good at making lemon-meringue pie. She made it that day. I think that she is not good house worker, because she cannot to housework follow the list. But, she worked hard, and her lemon-meringue pie makes someone happy. She is a wonderful houseworker. I want to eat her lemon-meringue pie!!

BR1-14: Harry and the Lady Next Door (Zion, 1988)

 
 

 
"She is a brave lady. She wins First Prise. It means she can study music in a far-off country for a long time. Everyone clapped and clapped. Harry barked and barked. He was the happiest of all." (p.56)
 
When I was a child, I read the picture books of Harry. These were my favorite books. I like pictures of Harry, because it is cute. Harry is very cheerful dog. He loved all his neighbors. However, he did not love the lady next door. She sang high and loud every day. He wanted to stop it, and he tried many times. Finally, his plan was succeeded. She went foreign contry to study music. He was very glad. I think he is persistent.
